This thread will be used to give an update on the translation of this game. The old thread had a lot of outdated information and broken links, so I decided to make a new one with the latest patch and information available.
BUT FIRST, The patch Here's the latest patch released: it includes the graphics done by ghanmi and some of my translated system messages. Now, onto the juicy stuff: A bit of story - Translation As far as it goes, the translation had it's problems since the beginning: translators and hackers leaving with a half unfinished job were the most common.
Two years ago, the project was revived by oil who made a site the translation, which is no longer available (Don't worry, the translation has been saved by salixa). Now I'm currently taking care of it. A lot of people did contribute to it (kind of an open translation) though some parts of it still bother me a bit (some stiff translations, untranslated lines, etc). Salixa is proofreading the script as we speak, but help from people with japanese knowledge will be, as always welcome. I can say this much of the script: It contains some JLPT level 1 kanji, and no furiganas, so If you feel confident enough to tackle it, feel free to ask me.
Not everything is bad, we have a SUBTITLER tool that will make proofreading EASIER, you can even translate ON THE FLY as you play. And everyone else I might have forgotten, lol Hacking the game Well, that's all about the translation so far. The hacking front wasn't as lucky as the other one, but some progress has been made since oil left. Though some of them are still missing: +'Tsushin' (Link) in-menu graphic +'Omake' (Extras) in-menu graphic + Names in Credits and some minor problems: +Title screen, third and fourth options: I messed up inserting one of the four frames for '2P' ('tsushin/link' option, the graphic probably needs to be redone) and didn't touch omake 'bonus'.
For those two I'll need to use the no$gba debugger to move the sprites anyways removing the gaps for a proper translation. +Opening lines not fixed yet to use the proper translation ('a land called paradise'). This should be possible (called 'a paradise land' once). The wording is awkward because of tiles repeating and imposing draconian limitations on the thing, but it should be possible if the tilemap is modified. +The glow effect doesn't match the crude shitty new English logo. Anyway the answer is no, the script has not been inserted yet, as each line has evil limits which have to be surpassed somehow. Earthdarkness has a solution to it, which, I hope, can be extended to handle system messages, so they doesn't have to be butched too.
About the graphics part, I'm still looking for them, some appear to be compressed though. Edit: finished a task I should have finished eons ago, Arrange the script in chronological order. Anyone who wants to proofread and TLC is welcome to do it (provided they have knowlegde of the SCS games, at least the second one). I found an interesting fact about NPC, they are related to the place they go in, for example.

Cakepans As you can see, dialogue when you try to leave the place and certain flags are not set one (you can't leave without checking on Zakk, for example) NPC, are stored in the same place as the location where they happen (Manig Mine, for example). Progress has reached kind of a halt because I've been busy with uni stuff, but I'm looking forward to do something with the graphics, at least find them or something. So far thanks to ghanmi's help, using crystaltile I managed to found some opcodes: 83 C4=type of weapon (sword,fist,axe,etc) 83 C5=rank of weapon (1 through 7) which led me to this (I did it by modifying directly the rom in crystaltyle2, hope there's a way so the tool can do it automatically). (Note the font though, It's a bit messy right now, if fitting the whole message is possible, then it shouldn't be a worry). I'm also waiting for earthdarkness to get less busier so the tool's codification can start. Uhm I am very sorry to ask that, but what kind of rom where you using while you created the patch?
The ones that are downloadable those days are 4370 - Summon Night X Tears crown (J) and they seem to be invalide with the patch itself. I tried more or less everything. (Re-Naming them, add ips on a copied version, re downloading the 'clear' file several times, reloading the patcher, etc) If this is not the thread to ask that kind of question in, then I am sorry about my question^^ Normally I would also most likely offer my direct support, but I am 99,99% sure that there is a higher chance I would rather ruin something then help with anything (especially since I don`t have any of the necessary knowledge xD Yep just the leecher to 'cheer' on the sidelines^^) But at least I can say: Keep going, I am pretty sure it won`t be long anymore xD And thanks for. It was hard enough to track this down. I had to go through I think 4-5 threads that claimed (1-2 yours) to translate this xD (I also made this account only to write this reply. Yep trying to get some plus points.

Mwahaha shouldn`t have said that huh? You seem to be mistaking, this one here's a GBA game (as flame said earlier), while Tears Crown (サモンナイトX ~ティアーズクラウン~) is a Nintendo DS game (which is also in progress). It's very easy to find really, just a quick google search will suffice (can't give any links!). Also, the patch is in.ups format, you'll have to use to patch the rom. That being said, there's indeed a mess of threads, but the project will be using only this one and the one in romhacking.net for new replies and news. Sorry the confusion! I'll take advantage of this reply to report progress: It's not a big deal, but 99% of the system messages have been translated.
This includes the forge menu (with descriptions for each ability you get when you rank up a weapon), level up messages, and extras menu (all options). Here are some pics. Well first of all thanks for the answer^^ Used the right patcher then after all. Nobody can say I used the wrong patcher at least xD. And I should have read the title a little more carefully shouldn`t I? XD I blame myself for getting lost in all those summon night threads XD It still looks quite nice =P (Who am I kidding. It looks awesome, if I think about the sheer amount of work it takes to translate this kind of games.
